Applicant and Project Information   Title of project: Home Grown Reading Institute Project manager: Katie Malone School: All primary schools Curriculum: Reading writing   Part II: Grant proposal   Summary: We would like to bring Teachers College (TC) Home Grown Reading Institute to Winchester for the summer of 2018! With the change over to full-day Kindergarten this year, we invited all 17 of our Kindergarten teachers to try out the Units of Study in Reading Workshop (also known as the Calkins Reading Workshop); this initiative has been wonderful and successful so far. However, the teachers are feeling a yearning for more in-depth training and others have heard about the power of this approach and want to learn more. We have had so many people express express and commitment, that we would like to bring 2 TC staff developers here to work with 50 staff members (classroom teachers, interventionists, literacy specialists, EL teachers, administrators) to improve their understanding of how to implement this best practice.   Part III: Grant Amount Tuition: $0.00 Travel: $1,500.00 Personnel: $17,600.00 Other costs: $8,969.40   Total costs: $28,069.40 Back to grants list
