| Summary: | Hands-on creation of garden to enhance science curriculum. A small raised flower bed of area 7-8 feet by 10 feet will be built along sunny south stairs at rear of school (location carefully chosen). Water supply is within 20 feet. Bed will have a variety of "early" blooming flowers, a border fence and path in center. Students will prepare soil and do plantings. 2013-2014 focus will be grade 4 "parts of plants" and "soil" science units, and grade 5 "decomposition" science unit. Future science units may include grade 2 "butterflies" and grade 3 "three sisters" vegetables. |
