Part II: Grant proposal |

Summary: |
I am applying to attend the 2023 SHAPE America National Convention and Expo in Seattle, Washington. SHAPE America - Society of Health and Physical Educators- is the nation’s largest membership organization of health and physical education professionals.
Professional development focusing solely on health and wellness is hard to come by! This convention excites me because it is the only event of its kind! Attendance would provide access to world-renowned speakers, content specific workshops and cutting-edge information and products. It would also enable me to forge new relationships and network with wellness professionals from all over the country.
Health education is a dynamic field and it is important to refresh my understanding and update curriculum as the field changes and grows. Local opportunities for this are limited and a national convention is expensive; this is why a grant is necessary.
In addition, Massachusetts Health Standards are currently under revision so the hope is that as we revise/update our Health curriculum in Winchester, I can share some of what was learned with Health/FACS/PE colleagues at a future department meeting.
Note: I wrote a grant for this conference for the 2019-20 school year, which was graciously approved by the committee but unfortunately, the event was canceled due to COVID so I was not able to attend.
