Part II: Grant proposal

Summary: This grant would bring 10 FlipVideo Camcorders and appropriate accessories (battery packs, tripods, USB cables) to Lynch Elementary School. Having these cameras would extend opportunities to bring technology into the classroom and expand the depth of learning that is already happening. These hand-held video cameras can be used to record classroom directions for replay on an individual basis, for using video to motivate active learners, or to create class shows (i.e. exploring media techniques, creating innovative responses lessons, integrating technology into various aspects of the curriculum, students create short movies or how-to videos). The camcorders can also be used for capturing lessons that can be shared at professional development sessions or viewed to reflect and improve one’s teaching style. Communication can be enhanced using the camera: capture moments from the school day to share with parents; record school tours or information to be shared at back-to-school night; invite others to make clips to be shared in class (i.e. foreign languages, sign language, community workers, family traditions, etc.). This type of technology enhances curriculum instruction as well as provides hands-on experience for learners of all ages in the 21st Century classroom.
