Summary: |
Our purpose is to continue the staff and student education around Social Justice. We want to ensure that we are supporting our most marginalized families and that we have books and resources that students can relate to and staff can access. We have begun to broaden our school library with books with all kinds of families and races and environments. We know that it is so important to have students connect to a variety of texts that act as a window to see others, mirrors to reflect themselves, and doors to open up the possibilities that we all have inside of us. This project would allow us to provide that for students, staff, and families.
This year as a school we have created a new mission statement that focuses on “We All Belong Here”. In connection to this mission statement, we are focusing our All School Meetings on monthly themes that highlight diversity and anti-bias work. Additionally, our school-based Social Justice Team will be developing and aligning lessons that connect to the monthly theme and sharing these with teachers.
