Summary: |
There is a critical need for professional development in the area of science at the elementary level. The Science CAST, which is a team of teachers with representation from each of the five elementary schools, has been researching ways to bring exemplar professional development in the area of science to the elementary staff in Winchester. As a team we feel strongly that we provide our students with the newest and most innovative science instruction. The National Science Teachers Conference offers key professional development institutes, research dissemination conferences, symposia, short courses, and a planned pathway of sessions that focus on content in the elementary subject area and research-based instructional strategies in the area of science. The exhibits feature the latest curriculum materials, resources, and professional development opportunities. NSTA conferences will provide our staff with an opportunity to collaborate with peers and science education leaders. It is our goal to then educate teachers in the district. |
