Project manager: Ella Adams-MacLeod

Curriculum: Art

Part II: Grant proposal

Summary: • Peggy Sharp is an expert in children’s literature. Each year she researches and presents to teachers and librarians about the most recently published children’s literature. Last year, Julie McElaney and Ella Adams attended this workshop, and brought back a wealth of information that was immediately implemented into their curriculum and shared with grade level colleagues. This year she is not offering a seminar in the Winchester area. Fortunately, she is offering an audio CD collection of her 2012 book choices along with a resource handbook. In this program, Peggy guides listeners through outstanding titles and shares highly practical, ready-to-use-ideas for incorporating books into all areas of the curriculum. In addition to four CDs, each audio training program includes a resource handbook specifically designed for the audio training program. Each resource handbook includes countless ideas, lessons and resources that can be immediately implemented in the classroom. Furthermore, as collection of CD’s, these outstanding strategies will be available to all Lincoln staff. Additionally, we plan to use the balance of our grant funds to purchase a selection of books from the workshop’s suggestions. These books will add greatly to our class libraries providing excellent titles for independent reading and for use with whole class and small group instruction.
