Summary: The Confratute Program (run through the Neag Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development at the University of Connecticut), is a combined, “CONFerence, FRATernity, and instiTUTE” geared towards providing educators with practical strategies that focus on creativity, higher level thinking skills, and the infusion of investigative learning experiences into all classrooms. In its 33rd year of existence, the presenters at Confratute are selected from the very best professionals, including Sally Reis, Joe Renzulli, and Susan Baum, all of whom are noted experts in the realm of Gifted Education. With a variety of course offerings (including courses on Differentiating Instruction and Curriculum, the Schoolwide Enrichment Model, and how to provide Math Enrichment through the use of Literacy strategies), we feel that our participation in this weeklong summer program will not only leave us with new perspectives on academic enrichment, but also with a new set of teaching skills that we can share with our colleagues and apply in our classrooms.
