Applicant and Project Information   Title of project: Project Build VO Project manager: jennifer rich School: Vinson-Owen Curriculum: Other   Part II: Grant proposal   Summary: We have an incredible opportunity presented to us with the building of a new Vinson Owen elementary school to enrich the educational experiences of our students using this once in a generation project. The construction of a new school building offers many teaching and learning opportunities that our students will benefit from in the coming months and years. Students are naturally fascinated by construction sites, projects and their surroundings. This natural curiosity along with the learning environment created by the building construction will allow teachers to make real life connections between classroom work and real life. Our goal, as a committee of parents and teachers, is to create lessons and activities that will enhance learning in all curriculum areas focusing on the building project. We’ll use a hands-on approach that integrates language arts, science, math, social studies and the arts. Each teacher will be given a box of tools, materials to be used in his or her class over the course of the entire project. In addition to this toolbox, we will provide lesson plans for the teachers to use in their classrooms while utilizing the monthly school meetings led by the principal to learn, share and explore this wonderful theme of “Building”.   Part III: Grant Amount Supplies: $3,000.00 Equipment: $0.00 Personnel: $0.00   Total costs: $3,000.00 Back to grants list
