| Summary: |
The annual convention of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE)attracts thousands of teachers, from pre-K through college, from all over the country. This year's theme is "Once and Future Classics: Reading Between the Lines." I propose to send four English teachers to four days of the conference. We will have hundreds of presentations, seminars, and hands-on workshops to choose from; this year's theme suggests that we will leave with innovative strategies for teaching "the canon" as well as with resources for integrating new literature into our curriculum. An exhibit hall at the conference will allow us to survey scores of new textbooks, software, and other teaching resources. |
