Part II: Grant proposal |

Summary: |
Muraco Elementary and Lincoln Elementary schools have few learning materials such as realia and word games designed specifically for its 75 English Language Learners (ELLs) receiving English as a Second Language (ESL) instructional support in their classrooms. Classroom teachers instructing these ESL students have few print professional texts or digital resources in the schools to help them develop their teaching approaches to ESL learners. The number of ESL students enrolled in the Winchester Public Schools (WPS) system is clearly trending upwards with Muraco and Lincoln alone expecting AY2010-2011 enrollments to total nearly 90 students. Currently, there is no budget for ESL supplies in these schools, and ESL teachers and instructors customarily pay for their own classroom materials. To improve student development and enhance the ESL program goals of WPS, this proposal aims to acquire, install, and implement curriculum-aligned ESL resources in the Muraco and Lynch schools during FY2010-2011. We request $1,306.85 in philanthropic support from the Winchester Foundation for Educational Excellence (WFEE) to implement our plan. |
