Part II: Grant proposal

Summary: Technology is transforming our learning communities and we librarians are striving to have the libraries keep pace. With exciting new advancements we see this as an opportunity to capture current and new readers by offering innovative formats. We are very excited about the potential of eBooks to expand beyond the four walls of the library. Ebooks will allow students and teachers the ability to access library resources from school as well as at home. Ebooks differ in a variety of ways from print resources. First, they are no longer a physical item that can be read by one single user at a specific time. Instead, they exist in the virtual cloud and allow the user, or users, to read an entire book on a web-based device, often at the exact same time. Students can access these books through the library catalog for use on their computers or tablets at home or at school. We are particularly interested in building this collection in order to make it available to our users at any time, allowing access 24/7. The ebooks purchased would support student projects and learning based on the Common Core state standards.
