Part II: Grant proposal |
|
Summary: |
The exciting part of this initiative is that it is the first of its kind! We want to create an opportunity for all elementary students to participate in the shared reading experience of multiple books, as a way to build engagement, help develop life long readers, and to celebrate Read Across America Month. To do this, the literacy coaches of all 5 elementary school would like to carry out March Book Madness in each of their schools as a whole school, whole district initiative for Read Across America in March. Due to controversy surrounding the literature of Dr. Suess, we wanted to find another engaging event that could include ALL students and ALL 5 schools. Each literacy coach will run the tournament, and in the end there will be a final vote to determine the Town Wide Favorite Book! In order to carry out this initiative we are looking to purchase the same 16 picture books for all 5 schools. |
