Part II: Grant proposal

Summary: We would appreciate the opportunity to attend the National Association for Music Education National Conference. The conference this year is unique as it combines three, usually separate events- the Research in Music Education Conference, the Music Teacher Education Conference, and the National Honor Ensemble Festival. Relevant and quality professional development is invigorating and inspiring. The opportunity to attend targeted professional development in music, at this time, is invaluable. Although teaching music online was a significant challenge, teachers dug deep into their creativity and skills to create valuable lessons that connected with students and helped them to sustain progress and their love of music. It’s well-known that music classes were significantly impacted by the pandemic. We also learned from the pandemic how vital music is for students, providing foundations of community, creativity, collaboration, and self-expression. We’ve been buoyed by the level of commitment that our students have shown.
