Part II: Grant proposal |

Summary: |
We would like to implement a second year of the Electric Vehicle/Auto Shop. In 2008-2009, with the help of WFEE, we converted a Chevy S10 from Gasoline to Electric Power. If it is possible, we would like to continue to refine the engineering in that truck into the next school year. Additionally, we anticipate a second project that will allow the students to capitalize on the skills and knowledge they have acquired. One idea is to convert a mail truck to be used as either a demonstration project by the US Post Office or by the Town of Winchester as its interoffice Mail Truck. If it is possible to move from Electric Power to Solar, we would like to explore that with students.
Because this after school club is staffed by adult volunteers in the community we bring a unique perspective to the student’s experience. Club participants are both male and female and come to us with an interest in auto mechanics, engineering, robotics, environmental issues, art, and communications.
We would also like to work with a variety of teachers to provide academic tie ins, including the more obvious physics, math, CAD and technology departments as well as art, journalism and WinCam.
