Applicant and Project Information   Title of project: Teachers As Scholars for Winchester Elementary Teachers Project manager: Susan Costello School: All primary schools Curriculum: Other   Part II: Grant proposal   Summary: Teachers As Scholars continues to be noted the most interesting and valuable professional development provider available to the Winchester Elementary, Middle and High School Staff. Therefore, this is a collaborative grant project written to support fifteen elementary teachers (3 teachers per school) in participating in the Teachers As Scholars Program for the 2011-2012 school year. Teachers As Scholars is a reknown professional development organization. TAS's philosophy is to provide high-level lectures, demonstration and instruction to k-12 educators throughout Massachusetts. TAS provides both elementary and secondary school teachers an opportunity to participate in seminars instructed by professional educators from prominent educational and cultural institutions throughout the Boston area. Seminars support core curriculum subject areas such as the Art, Humanities, Math and Science. Teachers are encouraged to take course in a variety of content backgrounds. Participating universities and institutions include: Boston University, Brandeis, Harvard, Tufts, Wellesley, and Museum of Fine Arts Boston. TAS Membership is competitive. New openings for school districts to be a part of TAS is dwindling. Currently, local school district members include; Acton- Boxborough, Arlington, Belmont, Concord-Carlisle, Dover- Sherborn, Wellesley and Weston.   Part III: Grant Amount Tuition: $7,500.00 Travel: $0.00 Personnel: $0.00 Other costs: $0.00   Total costs: $7,500.00 Back to grants list
