Summary: |
I wish to attend the bi-annual conference of the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC) being held in Toronto in August. ISAAC is the leading international community researching and promoting the best possible communication for people with complex communication needs. The bi-annual conference convenes the latest ideas, research and innovations with people who use AAC, their families, and professionals working in the teaching and communications field. At the conference, I will learn the range of available AAC methods and practices from top practitioners, researchers, developers, and even users. The conference program and pre-conference workshops are rich educational and training opportunities applicable to the elementary age population with complex communication disorders. Training, ideas, and information gained will be brought back to my colleagues and my work in Winchester, especially to the Specialized Learning Classroom at Lynch which has emerging AAC users within it. |
