Summary: |
“Technology is at the core of virtually every aspect of our daily lives and work, and we must leverage it to provide engaging and powerful learning experiences and content, as well as resources and assessments that measure student achievement in more complete, authentic and meaningful ways. (National Educational Technology Plan, 2101) As part of our ongoing work implementing district goals , we feel it is paramount to supply each elementary school with the technology tools and teacher training that will promote maximum growth in student learning. Our plan is to create a technology rich environment, and to provide coaching during the school day as well as collaboration and training through a professional learning community. One third and fourth grade teacher in each school will commit to the “model classroom” project in which they will embed technology into their instruction and assessment. Designated ITS staff will offer ongoing support during the school day and lead a professional development community made up of these third and fourth grade teachers beyond the school day. With this support, the teachers will collaborate in developing lessons based on target achievement goals through the use of technology. The work of the PLC will be a valuable resource in determining further professional development and purchases.
