Summary: |
Introduction to Writing Workshop by Stephanie Parsons is an On-Demand Course offered through Heinemann. This course will give teachers an understanding of why the Writing Workshop, pioneered by Don Graves, works well and creates lifelong writers. It will map instruction to the writing process and will teach participants all they need to know to get Writing Workshop up and running.
Since the Writing Workshop model for teaching writing is fairly new to most teachers at Lincoln School, having a group of 7 teachers and specialist all taking this class together will make this process of beginning a Writing Workshop with our classes much more successful. As a group we can all collaborate and problem solve together. We can discuss what new teaching methods we have learned and we can plan lessons together. Finally after taking this class, we can observe one another teaching or co-teach together. |
